Zahra Cook, DMD

Dr. Cook is a dentist who is passionate about her patients and profession. As Dr. Cook’s biography demonstrates, she is truly committed to delivering high quality dental care through continuing education and patient comfort.

In 1988 Dr. Cook received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the Medical University of South Carolina located in Charleston, South Carolina. After receiving her DMD, Dr. Cook practiced as an associate for a pediatric dentist in Greenville, South Carolina.

In 1990 Dr. Cook and her husband, David, relocated to Houston, Texas. After receiving her Texas dental license, Dr. Cook practiced as an associate in the Sugar Land area. In 1992 Dr. Cook decided to start her own private practice in Richmond, Texas.

Dental OfficeDr. Cook began treating patients in the Richmond/Rosenberg area in October 1992. Her dental practice started out in a very small rented office space equipped with only two treatment rooms and one employee.

Four years later, Dr. Cook designed and built a state-of-the-art office building located just accross the street. In July 1997 she moved into her new dental office. In 2008, Dr. Cook expanded this dental building to include an orthodontic bay and additional treatment rooms.

Dr. Cook's dental education did not stop when she graduated from dental school. Every year, she updates and expands her knowledge and skill-set through extensive and targeted continuing education. Dr. Cook has distinguished herself among her colleagues in her commitment to continuing education. In 2013 Dr. Cook traveled to Nashville, Tennessee to receive the Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD) award. The MAGD is one of dentistry's most respected and prestigious bestowed honors. In 2011 Dr. Cook received 3 fellowship distinctions from the Acadamy of General Dentistry, Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Cook also invests heavily in the latest technology which helps her deliver high quality dentistry with optimal patient comfort.

Dr. Cook believes a well informed and educated patient can and will make decisions about their oral health that they will feel both comfortable with and not later regret. We have an extensive collection of patient educational resources including videos, models, along with digital photography to help you understand exactly what can be done and what can be realistically expected.

Dr. Cook and husband, David, were married in 1988 and have two children, Melissa and Richard. They have lived in the Richmond area since 1991.

My Mission

My mission, every time you come for a visit, is for you to feel welcomed and to leave not only with an amazing smile but also with a healthy one. I’ll do so by identifying each of my patients’ unique wants and needs and subsequently accommodating my practice. Above all I want you to know that dentistry is not just a job it’s my passion.

She enjoys taking continuing education classes and is always looking for opportunities to advance her clinical skills and better serve her patients.

Life & Hobbies

When she isn’t practicing dentistry, Dr. Sy enjoys traveling, discovering new restaurants, checking out local museums, or grabbing a cup of iced coffee at your neighborhood shop. Born and raised in Garland, TX, Dr. Sy is an avid fan of the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Cowboys. Dr. Sy has also lived in San Antonio and Los Angeles, she now lives in Sugar Land with her husband Chris, daughter Ivy and two dogs, Hermes and Louie.
